Electric Chargepoint Booking Application is a peer-to-peer mobile application that enables users of electric vehicles to connect with owners of charging points. The application enables users of EVs to find and book charge points near them as well as pay for the booking.
Chargepoint owners are allowed to register their charging points on the system, set their availability and price, manage booking requests, and earn money through sharing their charging points with the users of EVs. Features of the Application Include: Location-based search using Google Maps and Google Places; social login; booking, messaging, push notifications, email notifications; and payment using secure Stripe.

Business Challenges
1. Difficulty in Finding Nearby Chargepoints
In order to charge, users require finding compatible chargepoints during travel. The lack of a location-based app makes it challenging to find charging infrastructure.
2. Limited Availability of Private Chargepoints
Some of the compatible chargepoints are private and are not used when their owners do not charge their cars. A P2P app was required to unlock these chargepoints for others.
3. Manual Booking Process
A booking process using phone calls or messages may lead to overlapping bookings, forgotten bookings, and an inability to track bookings.
4. Search for Location and Availability
The ability to instantly find chargepoints and navigate to the selected location was required.
5. Secure Payments Handling
Handling booking payments and securing users’ payment data was required.
Our Solutions
To solve the problem of searching for, booking, and managing payments at the EV chargepoints, we have developed a mobile-first peer-to-peer EV charging application that will be used by EV owners and charging point owners.
Location-Based EV Chargepoint Search
The application provides the opportunity to search for addresses and find charging points in the vicinity by using Google Places and Google Maps. Users can use filters by chargepoint type and availability, while map clustering ensures a good experience if there are several chargepoints at the same location.
Peer-to-Peer Chargepoint Management
Owners of chargepoints can register themselves on the application and list their compatible chargepoints. They can manage information about chargepoints, enable or disable its availability, set booking timings, and decide when to let other people use their charging infrastructure.
Automated Booking & Payment
Users are able to book an available charging point via a mobile application. The request to book is automatically displayed in the booking section for users and chargepoint owners. Payments are processed via Stripe pre-authorized payments.
